outreach

Our desire is that The River never become stagnant, but continue to flow into the community and around the world.

ENGAGING JESUS' MISSION...
While we love to gather for inspiring worship and teaching, being the church is more than just gathering for one hour on a Sunday morning. Jesus wants us to be his hands and feet and engage in his mission by going out to serve a hungry and hurting world.

iceepoptrailergroup.jpegIn the greater Fort Wayne area, we are multiplying God's love through simple acts of kindness. Several times a year anyone willing to invest an hour or two in serving others is welcome to join us as we go out to serve the community as a part of a Servefest. Beyond our community, we are engaging Jesus’ mission in Mexico, Russia and Uganda.

Alvarado.pngIn Mexico, we are excited to partner with Sergio and Holly Alvarado and their Impacto Latino ministry in the city of Pachuca. Through prayer, giving and mission trips, we are making a difference alongside the Alvarado’s and the Jubilee Christian Church in this urban center where 60% of residents are under 26 years old. To learn more about them or sign-up to receive regular updates, go to this their website at http://www.impactolatino.org or email them direct at alvarado@impactolatino.org

russiachildren.jpgIn Russia, we have emerging opportunities to help plant new communities of faith in partnership with Russian Outreach Network. This ministry seeks to plant churches, train leaders and change lives in a land known for its harsh winters, communistic past and struggling democracy, yet also filled with millions of people who have no relationship with Christ. Want to know more? Go to www.russianoutreach.net

fci.jpgIn Uganda, our hearts have been opened to bring hope to orphans through Forgotten Children Worldwide. Often, the difference between life and death is whether a child is sponsored or not. Many have been moved to provide resources to buy chickens, cows and farm equipment to help families feed themselves. Others have embraced needy orphans through child sponsorship bringing hope and a offering a new future. For more information, go to http://forgottenchildren.org

inasmuch.pngThe River is also excited to partner with the InAsMuch Ministry... A group of churches throughout Fort Wayne support this inner city ministry based out of the Broadway Christian Church. In As Much is all about helping the needy by “building dignity and self-worth through a relationship with Jesus Christ and personal responsibility.” They help nearly 7,000 people per year and would welcome any time you could volunteer on Monday, Wednesday or Friday mornings from 8:30 till noon.  You could have the chance to share the gospel, counsel on finances, sort and distribute clothes, secretarial duties with computer skills, etc… Contact Alyn Biddle at 260-423-2347 ext 310.
