Al was born and raised in Fort Wayne.  He graduated from Elmhurst High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from Indiana University in 1962.  He received his Master’s Degree from Michigan State in 1967.  He married his high school sweetheart, Meredith, in 1959.  Together they raised two sons, Brent and Brad.  They now have seven grandkids that they love to spend time with.  Al was a public school teacher until he retired from South Side High School after 30 years.  He taught business and social studies.  He is currently the President of a family owned business (Old Prairie Products Sand and Gravel since 1984) where you will still find him every work day!  He loves to watch sports (especially basketball), hunt, fish, travel and garden; but most of all spend time with his family.  His favorite movies include A Griswold Christmas and Weekend at Bernie’s.  By the way, he is a self-described chocoholic and ice cream addict!
